Little_girl_on_swingThe cold is slowly lifting and Long Island moms are eager to get their kids out and about to enjoy all that spring has to offer. If your kids are still suffering from a long winter’s “cabin fever,” what better way to help them get out their over abundance of energy then to head to a local playground? From east to west there’s definitely no shortage of such places all across Long Island. So put the kids in the car and check out some of these great play parks on Long Island!

In Commack, HOYT FARM PARK is located at 200 New Highway. Hoyt features baseball fields, nature trails, slides, swings and even a water park for when the weather gets a little bit warmer.

In East Meadow, EISENHOWER PARK is located at Merrick & Stewart Avenues. Eisenhower Park features playgrounds, dozens of athletic fields and courts, fitness trails, and even mini golf (for a small fee).

In Hewlett, GRANT PARK is located at Broadway and Sheridan Avenue. Grant Park has jogging/walking paths, a playground and a lake for fishing too!

In Holtsville, HOLTSVILLE ECOLOGY SITE & PARK is located at 249 Buckley Road. The ecology center is a mini zoo of sorts, playing home to over 100 wild and farm animals, plus it has walking/exercise trails and a great playground.

In Mt. Sinai, HERITAGE PARK, known to locals as “The Wedge” is located where CR-83 meets RT. 25A. The Wedge has soccer fields, two separate play areas for both little and big kids, walking/jogging/biking trails and offers lots of special spring/summer events such as kite day and movie night in the park.

In Riverhead, STOTZKY MEMORIAL PARK is located on Columbus Ave. & Pulaski Street. Stotzky not only features a playground for the kids, but also offers a skateboard/BMX park and a dog park.

In Roslyn, CHRISTOPHER MORLEY PARK is located off of Searingtown Road just north of the Long Island Expressway. This park has something for the whole family. Tennis and basketball courts, a playground, fitness and nature trails and even a dog run so you don’t have to leave “Fido” at home.

In Seaford, CEDAR CREEK PARK is located at 3340 Merrick Road, east of Wantagh Avenue. Cedar Creek provides handball, tennis, & basketball courts, jogging/walking/biking paths, a playground and even a roller rink.
